James and I began this blog at the very beginning of our pregnancy with Wyatt to share and update our new adventures as we became pregnant and start the new season of parenthood. Sixteen weeks into pregnancy, I had to go into surgery to ensure our son would not come too early and shortly after, we found out Wyatt has Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). This is our humble attempt at being transparent and hopefully sharing the joys and love of Christ through this roller coaster ride we're on. And now to share even more with the new miracle on the way.

Feeding Camp Day 7

Terrific Tuesday to you!

The only thing Wyatt can take in by mouth between feedings is water.  After dinner he can have other stuff but Wyatt goes to bed after dinner so we jump straight into night feed with the blend.  :-)  If dinner were earlier, I'd try more by mouth.
Wyatt has now learned how to open his alphabet soup cans... this means the room can get messy, FAST!

I feel like we flew through this day.  At times I wish time would slow (like talking to other cool mommies!) and other times I wish it would speed up!  :-)  Being here, there aren't too many distractions like at home (TV, dishes, laundry, the pool, cleaning, ect...) and I've had a lot of time to work with him on vocabulary, alphabet letters and sounds and following directions type stuff.  It's been fun to watch him pick things up here and there and show me what he really knows.  I know I'm bias but he really is a bright kid and the fact that his brain is functioning and understanding, I just feel so blessed.

So our day, it was good.  Our night on the other hand... a little off.  So weird...

Wyatt woke up whiny and he didn't want to be comforted.  It was so weird, he didn't want his paci and that ALWAYS works.  The only other time he didn't was when he had his minor eat infection.  So, of course I called the nurse in {SIDE NOTE- having a nurse on call and down the hall 24-7 is AWESOME!  lol} to look at him and see if she saw anything I did not and to tell her about this happening the time before.  She checked him out and spoke with the doctor.  He didn't have a fever but we thought maybe he needed a pain reliever.. I don't know.  He threw up somewhere in all that mess
.  I laid him in bed with me for a while and then moved him to his.  He woke up this morning happy, bright eyed and singing his ABC's.  That is much more pleasant than my alarm going off.  :-)

He started his day with OT first.  I sent him in with her on his own.  She said he walked into the room ready to play.  I wish I could have seen it but also happy he did great without me.  :-)  She said he would touch some shaving cream but wanted it off his hand shortly after.  She also told me that his back is weak on the right side and tight on the left side so she is doing some exercises to help him strengthen and loosen. :-)  Wyatt has his one year follow up with Scottish Rite in July for his back.  Maybe this will help there too.  :-)

Wyatt has been exploring his mouth more and more since being here.  The therapist say this is good.  :-)

Next was breakfast.  Wyatt ate blended waffles and blended peaches.  Sounds so appetizing.  :-)  He also drank a couple ounces of milk.  No stand offs which is always good.  :-)

We played outside and in the room after breakfast and continued on to speech therapy with Cammy at 11.  Remember this one is more for skill building and not volume.  But Wyatt did try blended beef stew and tuscan soup.

At lunch he took in just over 5oz.  :-)  Good boy of mine.  So proud!  :-)

I put Wyatt down for nap after lunch and he laid, rolled around and finally went to sleep DID NOT SLEEP for 2 whole hours.  Such a stinker.  I should have taken a picture of his sleepy, red eyes.  But somehow he went into snack time taking in almost 5oz with no standoffs.  I don't know how that happened but PTL for getting through snack.  :-)

He did get a little cranky after snack.  I put him in the stroller to walk around and stopped to talk to another mom and he fell asleep for a nice old school 20 minute snooze.  I guess it did the trick because he ALMOST made it all the way through dinner.  At the very end he did a mini standoff.  His mashed bananas were not as mashed as they usually are so he struggled some and didn't eat as much.

Wyatt loves soft things.  He takes this pillow out of a chair and tried to get his whole body on it.  This kid cracks me up.

Thankful for another day.  :-)  Even more thankful for another good day.

Jame bought a chair to keep in the room (and future outdoor use) so we both have a place to sit.  I think Wyatt has taken over.  Daddy is going to have to buy another one.
